Bihan Bazaar has brought various colours and shades of Chhattisgarh’s tribal and folk art at one place for denizens of Raipur to explore and appreciate. Bihan Bazaar is a handicraft fair organized at Chhattisgarh Haat, near City Mall, Pandri. As you enter the fair you will get a sight of handmade wooden objects put on display for exhibition and sale.
Moving ahead, you will find stalls displaying different types of pickles, jute bags, and decorative items. Nature and Earth are the inspiration for almost all kinds of indegenous art forms found in Chhattisgarh. While it’s fertile soil yield forests of wood and from its depth are extracted rich ores of metals, the very soil itself is pliant enough to be molded into three dimension forms, giving rise to Terracotta Pottery. The artifacts are attributed with meaning deeper than what is expressed through their physical form, a tradition extended to all handicrafts created by people of this land.
Recently State Minister Mr. Brijmohan Agarwal also visited Bihan Bazar, where he was accorded warm welcome by a dance troupe with a traditional folk dance performance.
