Being a badminton player since the last 40 years, she is a legend of her field. Her mother was a badminton player and so the love for this game was there in her since childhood.
In 1977 she stated playing and won her first State Championship in the Junior category. After a gap of 2 years in 1979 she started playing again and got selected for the National’s from her school, then in 1980 she got selected for the junior team of M.P. After this there was no looking back for her, in 1980 in her first District championship she defeated senior players. She was also the Senior State Champion of M.P.
She played her first international in 1986 against Russia. She then joined LIC in 1987 under sports quota. She is also the All India Public Sector Champion, All India Inter Institution Champion and also Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University Raipur east zone champion for the last 3 years. She has been representing India in World Badminton Championships since last 10 years in the senior category, from 2007 world championship in Tyapee, in 2009 in Spain, in 2011 Canada, in 2013 Turkey, 2015 Sweden and this year she won the bronze medal.B
She represented LIC in veterans category till 2013. She has been giving free coaching to kids since 1984. She is the only female coach in Raipur. She started giving training since she went to the national camp and realized that there are no proper coach here.
With her hard work she has managed to get 2 badminton courts to train. Talking about her struggles she emerged as a star in this game only through her practice and passion without any coaching. She has even gone through partiality and also financial issues as well as no sponsorship.
Her parents were the one who invested in her game. She has also given coaching on her personal expenses from 1988-2008. With such dedication and hard work she was bound to get success. All our best wishes are with you mam.
