At the age of 15 she has played National four times. As it is said that learning starts from home, her elder sister Sanjana Taunk, who is a National level tennis player was Nishika’s inspiration. Since childhood watching her sister play she also developed an inclination towards the game and started playing at the mere age of 7.
At that time, her family shifted to Ahmadabad so that the sister’s could get proper training and guidance in this game. She started learning and practicing there. At the age of 12 years she played her first National from Gujarat. She has even participated in road to Wimbledon, which is a competition for under 14 years age players.
She has won various tournaments for Ahmadabad and has also won various medals in Chhattisgarh. She has played in Asian Ranking in which 32 players are selected from all over Asia and has secured 19th position in it. She was 35th rank in the under 14 category of India last year. She has also played soft tennis in sub junior and junior category and has won medals. Initially she was a very thin girl and people were of the opinion that she will lack stamina for the game but being a hard working girl she worked hard on it and proved everyone wrong.
This year she has her 10th board exams and it has become difficult for her to maintain a balance between her game and studies. She is currently training under Rajesh Mishra sir. This year she will be representing Chhattisgarh in the National’s.
We wish her all the luck and we know that she will make our state and our country proud.
