In an interview with ‘Reincarnating Raipur’, DJ Sahil opens up about his journey from Raipur to Bollywood Aspirations. Mayank Padalia, affectionately known as DJ Sahil, is one such individual who embarked on a remarkable journey in the world of music. With a supportive family, a passion for music that began at an early age, and an undying determination, DJ Sahil’s story is one of inspiration and perseverance. Let’s dive into the life and journey of this talented DJ and aspiring Bollywood music composer.

Mayank hails from a family of four, comprising his parents, his elder brother, and himself. His journey in the world of music started back in 2006 when he was just a fifth-grader. His initial foray was into classical singing, which laid the foundation for his musical journey. As he grew, he added playing the drums to his repertoire, further expanding his musical skillset. However, the turning point in his musical journey came in the 10th grade when he decided to learn DJing. He being a Raipurian, received his professional training in this art form in Raipur itself. This decision marked the beginning of his professional music career.

Being asked about his DJing journey, he replied, “My initial days in the professional world of music were spent spinning tracks in discos”. His energetic sets and ability to read the crowd soon gained him recognition. However, he didn’t stop there. He ventured into the wedding music scene for three years, bringing joy and music to countless couples’ special days. Alongside his DJing career, DJ Sahil explored music production and composing. He is entirely self-taught in this aspect, having learned the ropes through online resources like YouTube. His dedication to expanding his skill set highlights his unwavering passion for music. But DJ Sahil’s ambitions extended beyond just weddings. He found himself drawn to the club scene, both within and outside Raipur. The exposure he gained from these experiences was invaluable, shaping him into the versatile DJ and music enthusiast he is today. Currently, he’s based in Lucknow, but his work takes him to various places as he continues to gain more experience. The tracks on which Sahil has worked are Prema Janta (Title Song) – Official Remix, Rayban (Remix), Naam Tera (Remix), & Pani Di Gal (Remix).

While chatting with Mayank Padalia we asked him about his inspiration and got to know that – DJ Sahil’s journey has been deeply influenced by the power of social media platforms, which have allowed him to reach a wider audience and connect with fellow music enthusiasts. Additionally, he draws inspiration from his late uncle, who was a talented singer and proficient in playing tabla, dholak, and other musical instruments. His uncle’s musical legacy serves as a constant source of motivation for DJ Sahil.

Being asked about challenges faced Mayank replies softly-“Like any journey towards success, my path was not without its share of challenges. I faced setbacks, differences, and moments of demotivation. At times, I even contemplated leaving the world of DJing behind. However, my unwavering determination and the unwavering support of my friends and family pulled me through these tough times”. 

As a seasoned DJ with dreams of becoming a Bollywood music composer and music director, Sahil has valuable advice for aspiring musicians. He emphasizes the importance of confidence and composure in this dynamic and competitive field. He stresses the need to believe in oneself and trust the process, regardless of the hurdles that may arise. Sahil also encourages musicians to learn from their juniors, as they often bring fresh ideas and perspectives to the table. He firmly believes in the power of mentorship and encourages mutual respect between junior and senior artists.

When Sahil was asked about the family’s satisfaction and plans he replied- “Today, My family is proud and satisfied with my work”. His journey, from a young boy with a passion for music to a professional DJ and aspiring Bollywood music composer, is a testament to his dedication and perseverance. Looking ahead, DJ Sahil has grand plans for his future. He envisions creating his music videos and tracks, further solidifying his presence in the music industry.
