On World Tribal Day, on August 7 and 8, traditional sports meet of specially protected tribes will be organized at Swami Vivekananda Stadium, Kota Raipur. Sports like archery, slingshot, Matka race, Gilli-danda, cart race, bumblebee, fugdi (girls category), billa (girls category). Also, kabaddi, tug of war, sattul ( Pithul), heavy race, sack race, needle-thread race (girls category), Mudi Lukawan (Goti Lukawan). And three-legged race and rowing (for the adult category), etc. competitions will be organized.
Organized by the Tribal and Scheduled Caste Development Department, on the occassion of World tribal Day this competition will be organized for boys and girls. It will be in two categories, 14 to 18 years age group. Second, traditionally played sports competitions for women and men of 18 years and above under open competition. At the district level, entries will be invited from all the development blocks coming under the agency area. It will be game-wise from specially protected tribal communities. Notably, sports competitions were organized in the districts from 22 to 28 July. About 700 participants from 17 districts will participate in this state-level event after selection from the district level.
Under the Khel Madai event, a cultural program will be presented especially by cultural groups of backward tribal groups. It will be at 5 pm in the auditorium of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Government Medical College. The cultural program will be presided over by Dwarkadhish Yadav, Chief Hospitality and Parliamentary Secretary of Tribal and Scheduled Caste Development Minister Dr. Premsai Singh Tekam. Seven groups of specially protected tribes will give their presentation in the cultural program.
