Chhattisgarh’s first Automatic Fitness Testing Center for vehicles has been designed in Raipur to inspect the fitness of vehicles. In this center, the fitness of vehicles will be examined with modern machines. The establishment of this center is considered a major achievement in the efforts being made by the Transport Department to reduce road accidents.
The Chhattisgarh Government had given instructions that the vehicles should be checked in a hi-tech manner and after that, the Transport Department was constantly trying in this direction. The roller brake test, axle load test, suspension test, side slip test, joint play test, steering gear play test, speedometer test, speed governor test, and exhaust gas test, will be done now through the machine in the Automated Fitness Center. The transport vehicle has to undergo fitness proof inspection every two years after eight years. Transport vehicles older than eight years have to undergo a fitness inspection every year. This regulation involves both passenger & goods vehicles, which are being utilized as commercial vehicles.
Now the driving license and registration certificate are being delivered at home through an online process. Putting more effort in this direction, the department is also going to automate the process of fitness inspection of transport vehicles. Earlier, the work fitness inspection was being done by the inspector in the RTO office.
