Two-day Photo Expo at Mahant Ghasidas Museum

The Department of Archaeology and Archives is conducting a photo exhibition on May 18 and 19, to introduce the people to the ancient art & brilliance of Chhattisgarh.

Museums play a crucial role in cultural exchange, preserving traditions, and developing mutual understanding among people, thus International Museum Day is celebrated. On the same note, the Department of Archaeology and Archives is conducting a photo exhibition on May 18 and 19, to introduce the people to the ancient art & brilliance of Chhattisgarh.

The International Council of Museums puts its thoughts on several museums related issues and raises awareness among the public, on International Museum Day. This two-day photo expo will feature images of about 50 to 150 years old. The exhibition is going to be held at the art gallery of Mahant Ghasidas Museum of Raipur.

The officers and staff of the museums will be honored by the International Jain organization. Images by J. D. Wegler (1873-74), A. H. Longhurst (1909-10), M.G. Dixit (1955), Donald M. Stadtner (1979-80), Michael W. Master, M.A., and Dhaki and Krishnadev will be featured on the expo. The exhibition will also feature the old photograph of the Mahant Ghasidas Museum, taken in 1953.

To increase awareness about heritage among visiting students, a quiz will also be a part of the event, and prizes will also be given to them. A total of 10 questions will be asked about the Mahant Ghasidas Museum Raipur and also about the art displayed there.
