In the final match of the Badminton Women’s Singles going on at the Deendayal Upadhyay Stadium in Surat, Akarshi defeated first seed Malvika Bansod of Maharashtra in a 44-minute struggle to win the title. Aakarshi easily won the first set 21-8. Aakarshi managed to win Chhattisgarh’s second gold medal by winning 22-20 in a hard-fought match in the second set. Earlier in the semi-final match, Aakarshi had won by defeating Tanya Hemant of Karnataka 21-13, 21-15.
Players of Chhattisgarh have so far won 7 medals in the 36th National Games held in Gujarat. Which includes two gold, three silver, and two bronze medals. At the age of just 9, Aakarshi made badminton her passion. At the age when common children are busy playing with toys, Aakarshi took up badminton at the age of 9.

Aakarshi has won dozens of titles at the national level in junior and senior categories for Chhattisgarh. In the Girl’s Singles category, she has been Under-15 once, Under-17 twice and Under-19 national champion once.
Won the first Gold for Chhattisgarh in the Khelo India Youth Games held in Pune in 2019. At the age of 16, he won the bronze medal in the Senior National Championship. Akarshi is the country’s number-1 player in women’s singles since 2019. Aakarshi’s Highest World Ranking is 57, Represented India in Asian Games held in 2018 in Jakarta.
Won Gold in South Asian Games held in Nepal and won the title in Senior Badminton Tournament in 2021. Also won the bronze medal for Chhattisgarh in the International Challenge held in Bahrain.
Aakarshi’s father is a doctor by profession and he dreams that his daughter should bring laurels to the country by winning a medal in the Olympics. Aakarshi’s father takes care of his fitness and training.
