Meet Jaya Bhagwanani, an inspiring artist.

She was born in Gwalior and completed her studies from Bhopal and just when her studies got finished, she got married and came to Raipur.

She started painting and arts after marriage when her in-laws motivated her to do something of her own, to show her talent. She says that even as a child, she had some interest in arts but focused on studies more. And that Raipur has a great number of opportunities for artists and people gets an appreciation of their work here. In her arts, she focuses on local arts only, like the Pola festival of Chhattisgarh.

She holds workshops where artists from all over India get together and then she auctions the art here. She also teaches painting to specially-abled children then hold exhibitions to show their artwork. She once taught prisoners and was very satisfied when she saw then happy after being in captive for so long. She also has an art group where they teach people who have an interest in art but were not able to afford to take any classes previously. She feels proud of them when she hears about their success.

She never faced many struggles when she entered this field, as she had all the support from her husband and in-laws whatever she did. She says that everything came to her as a surprise, she just went with the flow and everything happened.

Other than painting, she also loves culinary arts. She likes to decorate food more than cooking. She also started doing it professionally recently, where she invites people through her social media page and tell them the menu and price of that day. She does this once in 15 days. She loves the crowd that gathers, and the variety of people she meets through it.

She is inspired by Pablo Picasso’s quote, that ‘you see that I made this painting in 5 minutes but what you don’t know is that it took me my whole life to achieve this skill.’

Happy birthday to such an artistic lady!
