The total number of tigers in Indravati Tiger Reserve Bijapur has now increased from 5 to 6. A photograph of a tiger was received in the trap camera installed here last day under the Indravati Tiger Reserve. WII Tiger Cell Dehradun confirmed it as a new tiger.
It is noteworthy that under the able guidance of Forest Minister Mohammad Akbar in the state (Indravati Tiger Reserve), the work of wildlife conservation is being done continuously by the department in association with the people to create awareness about wildlife conservation.
Indravati Tiger Reserve is a suitable place for tigers to live, where other wildlife besides tigers also resides. Mainly forest buffalo as well as gaur, leopard, bear, nilgai, deer, sambar, wild boar, etc. are also the habitat of wild animals. ITR Chhattisgarh 2799.086 Sq.Km. It is spread over a geographical area of 1.5 km, which is adjacent to the forest area of Maharashtra and Telangana. ITR is a suitable corridor for the movement of tigers.
Indravati Tiger Reserve Management is continuously doing the work of monitoring and protecting wildlife. In line with this, wildlife is being protected and monitored through foot patrolling by field staff. The administration is reaching out to the locals and working hand in hand and creating awareness regarding conserving wildlife, for the conservation of tigers in the Reserve.
Two leopard cubs were found in ITR a week ago
Last week, two leopard cubs were found in the forests of ITR. ITR staff tried their best to reunite these cubs with their mother but they failed. Later both the cubs were sent to Jungle Safari in Raipur with complete security.
Indravati National Park
Indravati National Park is one of Chhattisgarh’s most beautiful and well-known wildlife reserves. The park is named after the Indravati River, which flows east to west and marks the reserve’s northern boundary with the Indian state of Maharashtra. In general, the landscape is conflict-ridden as a result of left-wing extremism.
Indravati was designated a national park in 1981. The entire area of the park is roughly 2799.08 km2 (1258.37 km2 core area and a 1540.71 km2 buffer area). Indravati National Park was established as a tiger reserve in 1983 as part of Project Tiger of India.
