Chhattisgarh honored by Ministry of Health and Family welfare

Chhattisgarh ranks second in the country in providing health services through Health and Wellness Centers and Karnataka State ranks first..

Chhattisgarh achieved this by making more centers functional than the target set for the operation of health and wellness centers till December 2022. For this, on Universal Health Coverage Day, Chhattisgarh will be honored in a program organized by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in Banaras on December 10-11. The states which have achieved 100% target in the operation of health and wellness centers by the Government of India will be honored in this program.

The achievement story

The state had got a target to upgrade 4825 primary health centers, sub-health centers, and urban health centers and operate them as health and wellness centers. Currently, 4887 centers are operating in the state. People above 30 years of age are screened for diseases like blood pressure, diabetes, and cancer free of cost in health and wellness centers.

Patients are also given free medicines and consultations as per their requirements. Along with treatment, people are encouraged to lead a healthy lifestyle. The crowd at the community health centers has reduced, due to getting treatment in these centers in the village itself. When symptoms of a serious illness appear in a person, he is informed in time, so that he can get treated.

It may be noted that Chhattisgarh ranks second in the country in providing health services through Health and Wellness Centers and Karnataka State ranks first. More than the target health centers in the state have been upgraded to Health and Wellness Centers so that all the services related to non-communicable diseases can be made available to the people of remote areas of the state.

Let us tell you that during the Corona period, medicines were delivered to the homes of more than five lakh people in the state through health and wellness centers. One lakh 96 thousand 375 diabetes patients, one lakh 32 thousand 330 hypertension patients, five thousand 279 TB patients, two thousand 727 leprosy patients, and one lakh 85 thousand 470 pregnant mothers were given various health-related medicines at their homes.
