Jagar Raipur Mela has become the center of attraction for the people. The people did a lot of shopping here. 140 stalls of various products of artisans and weavers have been set up for display cum sale from 12 states including Chhattisgarh. The products of artisans and weavers are getting a better response.
It is noteworthy that Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel encouraged the craftsmen and artists during the observation of the fair on June 16. Chief Minister Mr. Baghel congratulated the Chairman of the Handicrafts Development Board Mr. Chandan Kashyap. He said that every possible effort will be made to bring forward the arts of craftsmen and weavers. During this, the artisans urged Chief Minister Mr. Baghel to extend the organization of the 10-day fair. The Chief Minister has extended the organization of this 10-day fair for 5 days. This step is a sensitive initiative on the demand of the craftsmen. Significantly, the Jagar Raipur Mela started on June 10 and will continue till June 24.
Apart from Chhattisgarh, artisans from 12 states have come for display-cum-sale of their products in this exhibition. Cultural programs are being organized by the Department of Culture for the people coming to the fair premises. Bliss Dance Group Kolkata and folk artists of Gariaband’s mesmerizing presentation forced the people to dance. Many people come here to buy their favorite home furnishings and decorative items. While others came enjoy the cultural evening. This fair is open to the general public from 11 am to 10 pm.
It is noteworthy that along with various handicraft products, an exhibition of many attractive products of handloom, Khadi village industry, Matikala has been put up for sale in Jagar Mela. Out of these stalls, a total of 80 stalls have been allotted for Chhattisgarh. While artisans from Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Bihar, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Delhi, and Jammu & Kashmir are displaying their products in 60 stalls.
In the Jagar Mela-cum-exhibition, famous handicrafts of Chhattisgarh state Bell metal craft, Iron craft, Wood craft, Bamboo craft, Carpet craft, Sisal craft, Tattoo craft, Tuma craft, Terracotta craft, Chhind bronze, Kosa saree, Dupatta, Salwar in handloom fabrics Suits, dress material, bed sheets, bed sheets and different types of readymade garments will be displayed and sold. In Jagar Mela-2022, chikankari from Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh, Banarasi sarees from Banaras, Chanderi, Maheshwari and Tikamgarh bronzes from Madhya Pradesh, Jutework from West Bengal, Kanthawork and Bengali sarees besides Phulkari from Punjab, Mojari from Rajasthan and Gujarat, Delhi, A collection of crafts from 11 states including Haryana, Maharashtra, Bihar, and Jammu-Kashmir is being seen.
