LATA MANGESHKAR – DESPITE THE SILENCE OF THE WORLD, ONE VOICE BECOMES IMMORTAL
On 28 September 1920, Lata Mangeshkar was born and passed away on 6th February 2022. She is the pride of our Indian music industry; she started her career as an Indian playback singer and occasional music composer.
Her contribution to the Indian music industry over the past seven decades has been honored with honorific titles such as the Bharat Ratna award.
She was the queen of the Indian music industry, blessed by the voice of the Millennium. At the age of five, she already started to work as an actress in her father’s musical plays (Sangeet Natak in Marathi).
In 1942 she started playback singing at the age of 13 when her father Pandit Deenanath Mangeshkar died from a heart attack. Her never-ending journey begins at that moment when she takes her late father’s responsibility on her little shoulder. The newly independent era of India, felt blessed when they first time heard Lata Mangeshkar’s voice.
Nightingale of India
“Aye mere Watan ke logon, Zara ankh Mein bhar lo paani released on 26th January 1963, left everyone in tears. Even the prime minister of India Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru left in tears after listening to this song.
As a result of her early struggles, she has developed a sense of discipline and a guarded approach toward life.
Lata Mangeshkar – what do you describe her as? A singer who has sung untold numbers of songs in 36 languages during her career span of eight decades or a teacher who knows the actual value of the right education, as a result, she taught many people the early lessons of their music career. She was amazing in every phase of her lifetime.
Lata Mangeshkar made her name in the entire world and her voice has been cherished in every house, on television sets, and in movie theatres for more than seven decades.
Her name was enough to know everything about her but she was also popular for her soft kind nature and simple dressing sense.
Artists like Lata Mangeshkar never die. They live through their beautiful art forever. At last, I just want to say – “In the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. The only thing that matters is how you live.”
