Ingredients:

Rice flour – (3 cups)

Chana dal – (2 small cups)

Green chili – (4)

Coriander leaves – (1/4 bowl, finely chopped)

Garlic – (5/6 clove)

Cumin – (1/2 tsp)

Turmeric – (1/2 tsp)

Oil – (2 tsp)

Salt – (as per taste)

Rai – (1/2 tsp)

Curry leaves – (8 to 10 leaves)

Cooking Instructions :

  • To make Fara, first of all, soak chana dal overnight. When chana dal swells, remove water from it and add green chilies, cumin seeds, garlic, coriander leaves and grind it well.
  • Now add salt and turmeric to it and keep it aside. Take a pan and put half a cup of water in it and let it heat up. Add about a teaspoon of oil and slow down the flame.
  • Now put rice flour in it and mix it well. Turn off the gas and let the flour cool slightly. After this, take it out on a plate and mix the whole flour well.
  • When the dough becomes soft, make balls of it. Roll out the balls and then fill them with gram dal mixture and close it.
  • Take a pan and put water in it and heat it. Now take a mesh plate, and apply some oil to it, so that the fara does not stick to it.
  • Place the plate over the pan and cover it with a fara over it. Cook for 8 to 10 minutes and check whether the fara is cooked or not.

When the fara is cooked, turn off the gas. Enjoy the delicious fara with tomato chutney or sauce.
