She’s very compassionate towards animals and as a child always did every bit to save them such as putting grains for birds, giving food and water to the dogs, cats, and cows, helping ants to find a way to their home, helping caterpillars climb trees, and many such things.

What really got her going was a small incident during her college days when she saw an illegal dog catching going on in Raipur. It was cruel and not required. She inquired about dog population management through various organizations in India and animal protection laws. Afterward, she suggested the government run an animal birth control program which was recommended by the World Health Organization and the Animal Welfare Board of India.
Kasturi represented Raipur in front of Mrs. Maneka Gandhi, a face of animal welfare across the globe. She came across the nationwide organization People For Animals and registered the same in Raipur. From that day till now, not a single day has passed that she didn’t attend to animals in need. She refused jobs from reputed companies so that she could create an animal welfare setup in Raipur.
PFA, Raipur works towards the rescue of sick, injured, abandoned & homeless animals. It’s run by volunteers and does not receive any government grants. Whatever they earn is used for animal welfare. Till now, they’ve rescued 2500 animals from the streets of Raipur which include stray dogs, abandoned pet dogs, birds, cows, snakes, monkeys, parakeets, etc.
They organize puppy adoption camps frequently and have found loving homes for more than 100 Desi puppies.
She also runs an awareness campaign named Mission Zero Which targets certain ‘zero’ goals like- Zero Animals On Street, Zero Hungry Animals & Zero Dog Bites. All the luck and strength to you!
Wish you a very happy birthday ma’am!
