Sumedha- the Barbie Doll of Chhattisgarh was born in Rajnandgaon. Until the age of two & a half years, she couldn’t speak a word. Her mother perturbed over the situation and consulted the doctor. Things turned when she began to magically memorize the lyrics of the songs & eventually started singing them.
With no musical legacy at all, Sumedha started to learn singing when she was in the 8th grade. Later on, she began performing with a local orchestra- Rajbharti. While growing up, her stage presence was also in the local and state level competitions where on every occasion she wowed the judges and audience. When she garnered praise from the legendary music director Shri OP Nayyar in a singing competition in 2004 she got inclined towards becoming a singing sensation.

As Sumedha passionately followed singing reality shows since childhood, she got acquainted with an opportunity to perform in the SaReGaMaPa LUDHIANA audition which she inevitably prevailed in. The final audition was due in Mumbai and the date clashed with her exam schedule but the family support gave her confidence to drop the exam and go for the audition that led her to the stage of SaReGaMaPa 2007. Vishal Dadlani supported her to a great extent during the show.
After the TV show, she as per the contract toured across the world for a slew of concerts for two years. She also rocked the dais of IDEARockConcert series of 14 concerts in 14 cities of the country along with Shaan in 2008. She negated all offers from a few TV serials and movies, keeping her prime focus on singing.
Her very first playback singing was for the song Chakhri from Santosh Sivan’s TAHAAN. To date, she has sung three solo songs. She did a duet with Atif Aslam, Tuta Jo Kabhi Tara from the movie, A Flying Jatt, another to the duet with Arijit Singh for the song Tum Ho from the movie FUDDU. Her latest song is Nazm Nazm from Bareily Ki Barfi which has been a huge hit. She herself regards it as the best among her favorites citing its ability to seep through the soul. As of now, she has done playbacks in six different languages.
