Raipur: During the inaugural state-level steering committee meeting under the Prime Minister’s e-bus service scheme, the state chief secretary accepted the post-facto permission for buses with the goal of enhancing public transport options in Chhattisgarh’s cities. According to this plan, the population of a city determines how many buses it needs.
In order to obtain post-facto approval for the proposal to purchase 100 mini e-buses for Raipur, 50 mini e-buses for Durg-Bhilai, 35 mini and 15 small for Bilaspur, and 20 for Korba, state chief secretary Amitabh Jain asked for unanimous consent from the committee during the meeting.
In accordance with the scheme’s requirements, the committee also accepted the plan to submit a request for funding of Rs 70.34 crore to the Government of India for bus depot civil infrastructure.
According to officials, the purpose of this scheme is to establish a transparent relationship between the Center’s assistance to states and to develop as a substitute for metro systems in urban areas. It is anticipated that the e-bus service will enhance environmental protection and air quality in state cities by reducing carbon emissions while also reducing energy consumption, improving fuel efficiency, and providing comfortable transportation.
