Vintage car enthusiasts and collectors gathered in Delhi for the “Vintage for Life”

Vintage car enthusiasts and collectors gathered in Delhi on Sunday for the “Vintage for Life”. The G20 car drive. The event, which saw the participation of 50 curated vintage cars and 23 vintage motorcycles, was organized by the Department of Transport, GNCTD, in association with the Heritage Motoring Club of India. The vintage vehicles, ranging from the 1920s to the 1970s, drove through the city, culminating at the Delhi Gymkhana Club.

Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena flagged off the drive from the National Stadium, praising the event as a fitting precursor to India’s presidency of G20. For showcasing India’s automotive and industrial heritage to the public Corporate leaders and vintage car collectors from across the country participated in the drive. G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant, Delhi Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar, and other top officials were also present.

The event was a celebration of vintage automobiles, some of which were manufactured over one hundred years ago. Some of the rare marquees that were witnessed on Delhi roads included Rolls-Royces, Bentleys, Cadillacs, Lincolns, Packards, Bugatti, Buicks, Alfa Romeo, Fiats, Triumphs, Singers, Peugeots, Mercedes, and Mustangs, among others.

The drive not only showcased the beauty and elegance of vintage cars but also promoted the message of sustainability. The LG acknowledged the importance of preserving vintage vehicles for future generations, saying they are a symbol of India’s industrial heritage and culture.

The participation of diplomats of G20 countries also added an international flavour to the event. It was heartening to see so many vintage enthusiasts from corporate India come together to celebrate India’s automotive and industrial heritage.
