First Ethanol Plant of Chhattisgarh To Start Soon

Chhattisgarh’s first ethanol plant will begin soon this month. Experts have already started its testing. Presently, this plant is adjacent to the Bhoramdev factory in Kawardha, it will start with sugarcane but not paddy. Around 80 kiloliters of ethanol will be generated daily through this plant.

About 20 private companies in Chhattisgarh state had also started the exercise of installing this plant. On June 15, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel told the farmers of Telangana that they have sent a letter to the PMO regarding consent to make ethanol from paddy. If ethanol is made from paddy in Chhattisgarh, it will be effective in reducing pollution to some extent. The country’s well-known alcohol technologist Dr. Bibi Gunjal said that ethanol is a biofuel, and has no effect on people. When it is mixed with petrol, it increases the oxidation capacity of petrol. Due to this, the emission of carbon dioxide is reduced, thus controlling environmental pollution. Through this plant, petrol consumption will be less and fuel will be saved, along with this our environment will also be balanced. The fact is that it has a higher octane number when compared to gasoline. The higher the octane number, the better the petrol is considered. That’s why by adding ethanol, the octane number of petrol also increases.

Ethanol also contains water and oxygen, which makes it a great option. The better the air and fuel balance in the car engine, the less fuel is used. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas believes that adding ethanol to petrol will reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The Center has set a target of providing 20 percent ethanol-blended petrol by the year 2023.
