Three Players of Chhattisgarh Won the Gold Medal in the 2nd World Mallakhamb Championship

In the World Mallakhamb Championship 2023, held in Bhutan from 9th May to 12th May 2023, three promising players from Chhattisgarh performed brilliantly. Santosh Shorey, Jayanti Kachalam & Santay Potai represented the Indian team and created history by winning a gold medal in the 2nd World Mallakhamb Championship.

In the World Mallakhamb Championship 2023, held in Bhutan from 9th May to 12th May 2023, three promising players from Chhattisgarh performed brilliantly. Santosh Shorey, Jayanti Kachalam & Santay Potai represented the Indian team and created history by winning a gold medal in the 2nd World Mallakhamb Championship.

The players made the country and state proud by winning another gold medal for India. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and the Sports Minister congratulated these players for this achievement. Bhupesh Baghel and Sports Minister, Umesh Patel have said that the players of Abujmarh won the hearts of everyone with their skill and won the gold medal by spreading the brilliance of their talent in the World Mallakhamb Championship.

Santosh Shorey represented the national boy’s team, and Santaya Potai & Jayanthi Kachalam represented the national girl’s team in the championship. All these three players are residents of the Abujmarh region of Chhattisgarh. More than 200 players from many countries including India, Japan, America, South Africa, Brazil, and Bahrain participated in the World Mallakhamb Championship.

Coming out of Abujhmad and sensitive areas of ​​Chhattisgarh, these players have made their identity at the international level. Santosh Sori started practicing Mallakhamb from Class V (2017) at Porta Cabin School, Devgaon, Narayanpur, he got his first gold medal in the 2020 Bilaspur Invitational National Championship. After this, he also received two medals in the competition organized at Ujjain in September 2021. One bronze Medal in Khelo India in June 2022, one bronze Medal in National Games held in Gujarat in October 2022, and two bronze medals in February 2023 in Khelo India. Santosh Shorey has now achieved a total of 18 medals in several competitions till now.

Santay Potai has won a total of 17 medals at both state and national levels. Jayanthi Kachalam is a student of class 12th, and practicing Mallakhamb for the last 4 years. She has won a total of 14 medals at the state and national levels till now.
