‘Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojna’ – 25 Thousand Daughters Got Married in 4 Years

Under the ‘Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana’, the dreams of parents of many poor families have started coming true with the marriage of their daughters. In the last four and a half years, the marriages of 25 thousand 302 daughters have been completed with the help of the state government.

Under the scheme, in the financial year 2022-23, 6 thousand 800 couples have been married by the Women and Child Development Department. 

Under the ‘Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana’, the state government has raised the assistance amount per couple from Rs 25,000 to Rs 50,000. Under this scheme, a bank draft of Rs 21,000 has also been created as financial assistance material up to Rs 21,000, and a provision has also been created to spend up to Rs 8,000 for group wedding arrangements. For this, a provision of Rs 38 crore has been included in the budget. From April 01 this year, marriages are being solemnized with an increased amount. So far weddings of 555 couples have been solemnized with the raised amount under the scheme. Because of this, the dream of marriage of daughters of many families is being fulfilled.

Till now, the state government has increased the amount under the scheme twice. In the first budget introduced after taking over as Chief Minister, Baghel increased the grant amount provided under marriage from Rs 15,000 to Rs 25,000 in the year 2019, offering priority to the marriage of daughters. Now this amount has been increased to 50 thousand rupees.
