CG adds a new sports academy in Korba

BALCO signed the MoU taking the responsibility for the operation, maintenance, and care of the Academy besides providing all necessary facilities to the players.

A tripartite MoU was signed on Friday between the Korba Municipal Corporation, the Sports and Youth Welfare Department, and Bharat Aluminum Co (BALCO) to develop a Sports Academy at the Indira Priyadarshini Stadium in Chhattisgarh’s Korba city. It was announced during chief minister Bhupesh Baghel’s visit to the power hub of Chhattisgarh on January 4 this year.

All the expenses related to the training and skill development of players will be borne by BALCO. BALCO signed the MoU taking the responsibility for the operation, maintenance, and care of the Academy besides providing all necessary facilities to the players. It will operate and maintain the academy being developed at Indira Priyadarshini Stadium in Korba city.

Youths will get excellent training facilities in various sports including football, volleyball, basketball, and swimming at the sports academy.

Municipal Corporation Commissioner Prabhakar Pandey said that players will get international-level training in the academy so that they get better opportunities to enhance their sporting skills.

Also, the requirements of employees in the Academy and other staff will be arranged by BALCO under the supervision of the Municipal Corporation and the Sports Department.
