On the initiative of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, the Shri Dhanwantri Generic Medical Stores Scheme, functions with the objective of delivering affordable and quality generic medicines to people.
Under this scheme, served in all the urban bodies of the state, generic medicines of branded companies are made available at 50 to 70 percent less price. Medicines for colds, coughs, fever, blood pressure, insulin along with serious diseases, antibiotics, and surgical items are also being made available to the needy at subsidized prices in Dhanwantri medicine shops.
On the initiative of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, the Shri Dhanwantri Generic Medical Store Scheme has been initiated by the Urban Administration and Development Department on October 20, 2021. Under the scheme, 195 Shree Dhanwantri Medical Stores have been opened in all 169 urban bodies of the state.
It has been made compulsory for government doctors to prescribe generic medicines to patients coming into their hospitals. So far, Rs 105 crore 83 lakh discount has been given to needy people on the sale of medicines worth Rs 173.63 crore under the scheme.
It is worth mentioning that more than 60 lakh 30 thousand citizens have bought cheap medicines from Dhanvantari generic medical shops operating in various urban bodies of the state. Due to this people have got a lot of relief due to the availability of medicines at low prices. All necessary arrangements are done from time to time to make available high-quality generic medicines at subsidized rates for health facilities to the citizens.
Till now 20 medical stores in Raipur district, four in Gariaband, seven in Balodabazar-Bhatapara, seven in Dhamtari, six in Mahasamund, 19 in Durg, eight in Balod, eight in Bemetara, five in Rajnandgaon, three in Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan, one in Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh, six in Kabirdham, 10 in Bilaspur and two in Gorela-Pendra-Marwahi district, are being operated successfully.
Similarly, four in Mungeli, six in Korba, nine in Janjgir-Champa, six in Sakti, eight in Raigarh, five in Sarangarh-Bilaigarh, five in Jashpur, four in Surguja, five in Balrampur, six in Surajpur, two in Korea, five in Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur, three in Bastar, three in Kondagaon, one in Narayanpur, six in Kanker, five in Dantewada, three in Sukma and three medical stores in Bijapur district are being operated.
