Saturday, July 11 was a very special day for the Chhattisgarh High Court. Three thousand 133 cases are being heard here in the country’s first e-National Lok Adalat. For this, 195 benches were constituted under the leadership of Justice Prashant Mishra, Chairman of the Legal Services Authority. The special thing about the e-National Lok Adalat is that apart from two benches in the Chhattisgarh High Court, the hearing is being conducted through the benches constituted in all the district and session courts of the country. Chief Justice of the National Lok Adalat, PR Ramchandra Menon inaugurated it at 10.30 am.
On Friday, the District Legal Services Authority has also taken consent from the parties of the cases which are being heard on Saturday. The consent form has been filled through District and Sessions Judges. Chhattisgarh High Court has changed the format of National Lok Adalat to provide speedy justice to the poor. Due to Corona infection, hearing cases in National Lok Adalat is being done through virtual court. The parties and the appellant are connecting with the VC through their lawyers. During the hearing, the judge is seen on the laptop or computer screen. The lawyers and the parties present their views before the concerned court.
Two National Lok Adalats to be held this year have been canceled due to the global pandemic of Covid 19 (Corona). Many cases of poor parties are pending in the courts.
The link has been sent to the parties whose cases are being heard in the e-National Lok Adalat. Instructions were given to join the VC through the link at 11 am. Information is being given on the mobile number of the parties that their case is in the court of the presiding officer.
