Genrobotics, an expert in the robotic scavenging machine in the world has entered Raipur introducing its manhole cleaning robot, Bandicoot. The purpose is to maintain proper cleanliness in the city. Raipur is gonna be the first city in Chhattisgarh to acquire these robotic machines. Chhattisgarh has now become the 18th state in the country to employ Bandicoot for cleaning manholes.
Provided through the CSR funds of Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Atal Nagar Vikas Pradhikaran handed over the machine. Dipak Kumar Basu, ED and State Head – Madhya Pradesh, IOCL delivered the keys of bandicoot to Kiran Kaushal, IAS, CEO, Nava Raipur, Atal Nagar Vikas Pradhikaran, in the presence of other notables as Arvind Sharma, CE, Nava Raipur Atal Nagar Vikas Pradhikaran, Shreyansh Dixit, Chief Manager HR and CSR – Madhya Pradesh, and Amit Khayaliya, Divisional Officer, IOCL.
The Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaram briefed in the 2023-2024 Union Budget that all manholes in towns and cities in the country will be transformed into Machine-holes. And as a part of this initiative, Raipur has obtained these Bandicoots to clean the manholes. This step is bringing a better and smooth approach to the whole cleaning process. Also to avoid the health risks and accidents among the sanitation workers.
Being furnished with advanced cameras and sensors, Bandicoot can easily navigate through a narrow space of manholes. The deployment of the Bandicoot robot in Raipur is going to act as a model for the other cities in the state. Adaptation to similar robotic technology for their sanitation needs would be best for the other cities.
At the launch function, CEO of Genrobotics, Vimal Govind M.K said, “We are eager to partner with the Nava Raipur Municipal Corporation to deploy our Bandicoot robot to clean the city’s manholes. Our innovative technology has been designed to ensure safety and efficiency, and we believe it will significantly improve the city’s cleaning efforts.”
