A Chakshu portal has been launched to combat cyber fraud, with plans underway for a dedicated app. Users are urged not to share personal information and to be cautious of permissions granted to apps. To report fraud, individuals can contact the government helpline or visit www.cybercrime.gov.in. Measures include avoiding sharing sensitive information and scrutinizing app permissions.
Indian Finance Minister Expects 8% Growth, Highlights Banking Sector Recovery
Indian Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman expressed in an investment summit on March 30, that the economy to grow at 8% or above in the last quarter of FY24, resulting in an average GDP growth of over 8% for the fiscal year. Q1, Q2, and Q3 of FY24 saw growth rates of 7.8%, 7.6%, and 8.4%, respectively. Goldman Sachs has upgraded its 2024 economic growth projection for India to 6.6%. Retail inflation stood at 5.09% in February, within RBI’s target range of 2-6% for the sixth consecutive month. Sitharaman highlighted the improved health of the banking sector and the role of NaBFID in infrastructure financing. NPAs are decreasing, signalling sectoral recovery.

India’s Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes have attracted over Rs 1.06 trillion in investments as of December 2023, with pharmaceuticals and solar modules leading the influx. Pharmaceuticals received Rs 25,813 crore, surpassing projections, while solar PV modules saw Rs 22,904 crore. However, sectors like IT hardware and auto struggled to draw significant investments. The government disbursed Rs 4,415 crore across eight sectors by October of the current fiscal year. These schemes aim to boost innovation and manufacturing, positioning India as a global leader. Policymakers are adjusting strategies to optimize scheme efficacy, fostering sustainable growth and competitiveness in key sectors.
