Union Budget 2024: Boosting Jobs and Employment with New Schemes

Union Budget 2024

The Union Budget 2024, presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, brings a promising array of five new schemes aimed at enhancing job opportunities and employment growth in India. These initiatives are designed to cater to various segments of the population, ensuring a comprehensive approach to employment.

Direct Salary Transfers for First-Time Job Seekers

One of the standout schemes focuses on first-time job seekers. This initiative includes direct salary transfers, benefiting those earning up to Rs 1 lakh per month. By providing direct financial support, the government aims to encourage fresh graduates and newcomers to enter the workforce with confidence.

Educational Loan Support

To further bolster education and skill development, the government will provide educational loans of up to Rs 10 lakhs for students in domestic institutions. With an annual interest subvention of 3 per cent, this scheme makes higher education more accessible and affordable for aspiring students.

Working Women Hostels

Promoting gender inclusivity, the government plans to set up working women hostels. This move is expected to facilitate increased participation of women in the workforce, providing them with safe and supportive housing options close to their workplaces as per Union Budget 2024.

Upgrading ITIs and Manufacturing Jobs Assistance

In a bid to modernize vocational training, 1,000 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) will be upgraded following the hub-and-spoke model. Additionally, a new scheme offers incentives to both employees and employers in the manufacturing sector. This initiative aims to provide 30 lakh youth with stable employment opportunities in the manufacturing industry over the next four years.

Internships and Support to Employers

Arguably the most ambitious of the new schemes is the plan to provide internships to 1 crore youth over five years. Partnering with 500 top companies, the government will offer interns Rs 5,000 per month along with a one-time assistance of Rs 6,000. This initiative ensures that young professionals gain invaluable real-life business exposure.

Moreover, employers will receive Rs 3,000 per month for two years for additional employment in all sectors, covering EPFO charges. This measure aims to incentivize the employment of up to 50 lakh individuals.

Conclusion

These forward-thinking schemes in the Union Budget 2024 are set to revolutionize the job market, providing diverse opportunities and support across various sectors. By focusing on inclusive growth and skill development, the government is paving the way for a brighter employment landscape in India.
